Schaltbau Sepsa to supply information and auxiliary power systems for new subway cars of the New York City Transit Authority

  • A minimum of 535 new subway cars will be equipped with information and auxiliary power systems between 2019 and 2022, translating into revenues of more than USD 47 million for Schaltbau Sepsa
  • Depending on the demand of the New York City Transit Authority, up to 1,077 additional new subway cars may be equipped until 2025, generating additional revenues of up to USD 87 million for Schaltbau Sepsa and implying total revenues under the agreement of up to USD 134 million

Munich (Germany), 29 November 2018. Spain-based Albatros S. L. U. (“Schaltbau Sepsa”) – part of the Schaltbau Group (Schaltbau Holding AG, WKN: A2NBTL2, ISIN: DE000A2NBTL2) – entered into an agreement with Kawasaki Rail Car, Inc. (“Kawasaki”) to supply information and auxiliary power systems for 535 new subway cars which Kawasaki will provide to the New York City Transit Authority.

This agreement will translate into revenues of more than USD 47 million for Schaltbau Sepsa and will cover the development, production and delivery of the original equipment and spare parts for the new subway cars. Delivery of the equipment is expected to start in Q4 2019 with the first pilot cars and to be finalised in 2022.

Moreover, depending on the demand of the New York City Transit Authority, Schaltbau Sepsa will deliver equipment and spare parts for 1,077 additional new subway cars until Q3 2025, translating into incremental revenues of up to USD 87 million. In total, under the agreement Schaltbau Sepsa will provide equipment for up to 1,612 subway cars, resulting in revenues of up to USD 134 million for Schaltbau Sepsa.

Schaltbau Group has decided to put Schaltbau Sepsa up for sale in November 2017.
