Responsibility and Sustainability

For Schaltbau, business success inseparably goes in line with social responsibility. As an active, responsible corporate citizen, the Schaltbau Group works continuously to make its business activities and products sustainable, to use resources even more efficiently, and to present itself on the market as an attractive employer. Our business activities are based on responsibility, trust, reliability and innovation. Our activities are aimed at continuously improving the competitiveness of Schaltbau Group in strict compliance with internationally recognised ethical and legal principles, taking market requirements into account. The driving force behind our activities are the interests of our employees and shareholders, our business partners and society.

We See Climate Action and Decarbonisation as a Strategic Priority

For the Schaltbau Group, climate action is not an option – it is a strategic priority. We are committed to taking responsibility and actively contributing to limiting climate change. As an industrial company with relevant emissions, our goal is to make our business activities future-proof and resilient.
We support the goals of the Paris Agreement and align our climate strategy with internationally recognised standards such as the Greenhouse Gas Protocol.

We are committed to:

  • Progressively decarbonising our operations in line with Scope 1, 2 and 3 of the GHG Protocol
  • Developing a time-bound reduction plan based on a robust emissions inventory
  • Integrating climate considerations into our strategic decisions and investments
  • Communicating transparently with all stakeholders
  • Collaborating responsibly along our value chain

Our Climate Targets and Next Steps

By the end of 2025, we have set the following binding interim targets:

  • Complete Group-wide accounting of Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions
  • Conduct a Scope 3 screening to identify key emission categories
  • Define a reduction target and timeframe
  • Develop a concrete, time-bound action plan to reduce our emissions by Q4 2025

These measures form the basis for a strategic decision on whether – and how – we can achieve the long-term goal of Net Zero for the entire Group by 2050 at the latest. For our Velden site, we are currently assessing whether a more ambitious target of Net Zero by 2040 is realistically achievable under the given economic and technological conditions.

Systematic Integration and Governance

Our climate strategy is an integral part of our Group-wide sustainability strategy. Its implementation is ensured through a comprehensive ESG management system and close collaboration with all business units.

Transparency & Accountability

We provide transparency on our progress by publishing relevant information in our sustainability report and through continuous communication with customers, investors and employees.
