Schaltbau confirms growth targets for 2015 after good start to year

– Order intake and sales considerably higher in first quarter due to acquisitions

– EBIT margin rises to 7.8 per cent

Munich, 24 April 2015 – According to preliminary figures, the Schaltbau Group’s sales grew by 16.7 per cent to EUR 107.4 million in the first quarter. As announced at today’s annual accounts press conference, order intake for the globally operating transportation technology group increased by 13.4 per cent to EUR 127.2 million during the same three-month period. The growth is primarily due to the expansion of the Group’s Mobile Transportation Technology segment to include Polish company RAWAG and ALTE Technologies, which is based in Spain. Business with existing products and services equalled the previous year’s level. The negative impact of the currently weak order situation for railway crossing systems and isolated project delays in the Stationary Transportation Technology segment were fully compensated by growth registered with Door Systems and Components.

EBIT rose to EUR 8.4 million (2013: EUR 6.2 million). Despite the negative contribution from ALTE, the EBIT margin therefore improved from 6.8 to 7.8 per cent. In addition to the good sales performance in the fields of Door Systems and Components, exchange rate gains also played a minor role. Due to the lower result from investments caused by the full consolidation of RAWAG and the inclusion of losses made by Albatros, earnings per share amounted to EUR 0.40, around 43 per cent down on the previous year’s first-quarter figure, but higher than expected.

“The fiscal year 2015 has got off to a good start,” said Dr Jürgen Cammann, Spokesman of the Executive Board. “We expect the Mobile Transportation Technology and Components segments to continue performing well, which will have a positive impact on EBIT.” The Schaltbau Group continues to forecast a significant increase in EBIT to EUR 37 million for the full year. Sales are predicted to rise to EUR 464 million. Earnings per share are expected to reach EUR 2.91.

The Schaltbau Group finished fiscal year 2014 with sales of EUR 429.6 million and an EBIT margin of 6.4 per cent. The Annual Report 2014 was published today and can be downloaded at http://schaltbau.de/en/management-report.
