Munich (Germany), 23 May 2019. In the early hours of 21 May, around twenty thousand square metres of production space at the Schaltbau subsidiary Gebr. Bode GmbH & Co. KG (“Bode”) in Kassel (Germany) were affected by heavy rainfall and flooding. The staff present at the location, which employs around 850 people in total, were evacuated immediately and there were no personal injuries.

At the Bode factory site, where door and boarding systems for rolling stock and road vehicles are manufactured, the clean-up and repair work is in full swing and production is expected to resume from the beginning of next week. According to current estimates, it should be possible to make up the production shortfall caused by the flooding within a short time, and insurance cover is also provided against property damage and business interruption. Customers and other key partners of Bode have been informed of the incident.
