Sanitary units for the TRAXX F120MS locomotive

Schaltbau RAWAG designed and manufactured sanitary units for the TRAXX F120MS locomotive produced by Bombardier Transportation and FLC. The locomotive, which is equipped with a dual drive system, reaches a speed of 120km/h. It is designed for loads from 7,000 tons up to 9,000 tons, and operating temperatures from –55° C to +45° C.
The specific exploitation conditions and final customer requirements had significant impact on the sanitary unit’s design. Among others, the standard vacuum system was replaced in favor of a toilet waste combustion system. All systems and materials had to be adjusted to low operating temperatures.
Four sanitary units for prototype locomotives are presently undergoing a homologation and approval process in Russia.
